About North Star Family & Community Services
North Star Family & Community Services is a family-first, child-centered organization dedicated to serving children and families in foster care across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. As a licensed Child-Placing Agency, we believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing home and the opportunity to thrive. Our mission is rooted in the understanding that family connections and trauma-informed care are essential to healing and growth. We specialize in serving children of all abilities, with particular expertise in supporting ages 8-14 who may have autism, social-emotional, behavioral, or executive-functioning needs.
Beyond placement, our comprehensive approach empowers children to build life skills, confidence, independence, and meaningful connections through community partnerships and individualized support. Our trained caregivers provide trauma-informed care tailored to each child's unique needs, ensuring they receive not just a placement, but a pathway to better outcomes. As we continue to grow, we are expanding our services to include a residential program for girls ages 8-14, further strengthening our commitment to providing comprehensive, compassionate care for the most vulnerable children in our community.
Our Services
Foster Care & Respite Placements
We provide safe, nurturing foster care and respite placements for children in need, with specialized support for children ages 8-14 who have autism, social-emotional, behavioral, or executive-functioning needs. Our trauma-informed approach ensures every child receives individualized care in a family-first environment.
Foster Family Recruitment, Training & Support
We recruit, train, and provide ongoing support to foster families who are committed to making a difference in children's lives. Our comprehensive training equips caregivers with the skills and knowledge needed to provide trauma-informed, compassionate care and help children heal and grow.
Life Skills & Community Integration Programs
Through strategic community partnerships, we help children build essential life skills, confidence, independence, and educational exposure. Our programs focus on creating meaningful connections and preparing children for successful transitions while fostering their personal growth and resilience.
